Luxury Wilderness Safari

You will be picked up from the airport by a Kilisherpas Travel representative and driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you will hopefully have time to relax and prepare for the adventure of a lifetime. Arusha, nestled in the foothills of Mount Meru, Africa’s 5th highest mountain, enjoys a comfortable climate and lush green environment for many months of the year. Known as the safari capital of Tanzania, Arusha’s bustling streets are vibrant, while surrounding villages offer opportunities to explore coffee plantations and meet local people.

Your Kilisherpas Travel guide will collect you from your accommodation after breakfast. You will drive to Tarangire National Park, your first taste of Tanzania’s wonders on this luxury safari. Named after the Tarangire River, the ‘river of warthogs,’ it’s the only water source for wildlife during the dry season. One of Tanzania’s largest national parks, it’s famous for large elephant herds, around 500 bird species, and the iconic baobab, or ‘upside-down’ tree, also known as the ‘Tree of Life’ for its mythical significance in some cultures. Lunch will be at a picnic site inside the park. After your game drive, transit to your luxury accommodation in Karatu.

After breakfast, drive up into the cooler regions of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, looks like a forgotten world with its steep volcanic walls concealing sweeping savannah, acacia woodlands, and glistening lakes and swamps. Formed when a volcano collapsed two to three million years ago, it spans 260 km² and hosts some of Africa’s densest large mammal populations. You’ll see wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, over 500 bird species, and have the best chance to spot the endangered black rhino. Lunch is at a picnic site on the crater floor. After your game drive, return to your luxury accommodation in Karatu.

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, the final stop on your luxury safari. Compact yet epic, this narrow park lies beneath the Great Rift Escarpment’s towering western boundary. Its shallow, salt lake floods and dries seasonally, attracting thousands of wading birds, including flamingos, and over 500 other bird species. You may see baboons and elephants in the thick evergreen forest and the famous tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. After your game drive, bid farewell to your Kilisherpas Travel guide and choose your drop-off location (e.g., Arusha Town, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport).
